Hi!

Welcome to my new home on the web! I hope you find something that interests you.

Songs I can crawl into and weep in peace.

Songs I can crawl into and weep in peace.

I'm not a huge music addict. Not by any stretch of the definition. I typically don't even know what artist I'm listening to, it's just background noise. But there are a few exceptions that I'd like to share with you today. All three of the following songs are songs that when they start playing, all I want to do is curl up into a little ball and be enveloped in their power, peace, and emotion. If it's at all practical I'll turn the volume up so loud that it almost hurts my ears, so loud that it begins to block the feeling of reality on my other 4 senses till I'm lost in an ocean of the movement of the music. It's almost something like how Searle feels when opening the sunshade on the Icarus II in Sunshine.

Searle: It's invigorating. It's like... taking a shower in light. You lose yourself in it.

Corazon: Like a floatation tank?

Searle: Actually, no. More like... In psych tests on deep space, I ran a number of sensory deprivation trials, tested in total darkness, on floatation tanks - and the point about darkness is, you float in it. You and the darkness are distinct from each other because darkness is an absence of something, it's a vacuum. But total light envelops you. It becomes you. It's very strange... I recommend it.

Funny enough, all three songs have featured prominently in trailers I've liked and one was even part of the score for one of my favorite movies. I've paired each with the trailer I associate it with.
