TOWB: Day 9, Georgetown to Pittsburgh
Today wasn't a very full day, but we had one great success and one not so great disappointment. I'm going to keep this brief because I'm tired and my bed is calling me.
We started out the day in Georgetown, Kentucky, not randomly but because it was right next door to the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky plant. We were hoping to go on a tour, but we didn't know how busy they would be. Thankfully their first tour of the day at 9:30 am only had about 9 other people in it; in contrast the other two tours of the day were full at the maximum 48 people. We weren't allowed to bring cameras in, trade secrets and all that, but the tour is still running around in our heads. It was so full of things to see that we couldn't even take it all in. We ended up talking to our guide for about 15 minutes after the tour was done, asking him questions about anything and everything. We actually thought about trying to stay for the second tour but the road called to us.
Which is when we decided to ditch the Cleveland plan and go to Pittsburgh with a stop off in Morgantown, West Virginia. We had our stomachs set on some Martin's BBQ Joint, the last one we could hit before hitting Pennsylvania. Turns out Morgantown is home to WVU and it was a long drive through the college town until we got to the shopping center with the Martin's BBQ. Sadly, when we got to the door, it was clear they were closed. Apparently they literally just closed the location, but hadn't updated their website yet. So instead we went to a nearby place called Pies and Pints. We had a delicious plate of pulled pork nachos and a pizza that was half chicken, bacon, and gouda and half that was grape and gorgonzola.
Then on to PIttsburgh and our last hotel of the trip. See you tomorrow Lancaster!
